After Hour Emergency Services for Dogs and Cats

Please notify us by phone prior to your arrival so we can make the necessary preparations for your visit.

What to Expect on Arrival

Bringing your pet to the ER can be overwhelming, and we want you to feel supported from the moment you walk in.

Check-In Process

Our front desk team will greet you, provide a quick intake form, and make a copy of your ID (driver's license, ID card, or passport). Our customer service representative will ask you a few urgent questions to check you into our system as quickly as possible.

Immediate Triage & Examination

After check-in, a veterinary assistant will meet you for immediate triage to see how your pet is doing. Once an exam room is prepared for you, you'll be brought inside so the assistant can take your pet's vital signs and gather important information. You will then meet with our veterinarian, who will perform a full evaluation and walk you through the best treatment options for your pet.

Overnight Care

Should your pet need to stay in the hospital for overnight care, they will be moved to a clean, comfortable kennel area and cared for by a dedicated technician who will be watching over them closely.

Wait Times

Because we treat pets based on medical urgency, stable pets may experience longer waits during busy ER hours. We truly appreciate your patience as our team works to help every pet who needs us.

Support During Your Visit

If at any time you feel concerned, confused, or simply need more information, please let us know. You can ask to speak with the veterinary assistant lead, who supports our assistants and customer service representatives. If your pet is hospitalized and you have questions about their care, you may request the shift lead, who oversees the technicians and support staff caring for hospitalized patients.

If Your Pet Is In Critical Condition

If your pet is having trouble breathing, collapsing, or showing other severe symptoms, please alert us immediately. We may take your pet straight to our treatment area so we can begin life-saving care right away.

In these situations, we may request a critical care deposit of $1,500–$2,000. This allows us to act quickly and may be used for any urgent, immediate needs your pet has, such as helping them breathe, placing an IV catheter, running fast diagnostics, or any other emergency treatments needed to stabilize them. We understand how stressful this moment can be, and our team will communicate with you clearly as we work to help your pet.

You are not alone. We want you to feel heard and supported throughout the entire visit. We are here to care for your pet with urgency, compassion, and clear communication through every stage.

Services Offered

Comprehensive emergency care and diagnostic services available 24/7 for your pet.

After Hour Imaging

We offer after-hours radiograph interpretation through a board-certified veterinary radiologist at Vet’s Choice Radiology. Digital radiographs are securely transmitted for overnight specialist review and formal diagnostic reporting. This service provides advanced radiographic interpretation to support accurate diagnosis and timely medical decision-making.

Anesthesia

We offer comprehensive anesthesia services to ensure your pet remains comfortable and pain-free during surgical and diagnostic procedures. Our team utilizes modern anesthetic protocols and continuously monitors vital parameters such as heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiration. Careful monitoring helps maintain patient safety throughout the procedure and recovery period.

Critical Care

We offer critical care services for patients experiencing severe illness, trauma, or life-threatening medical conditions. These patients receive intensive monitoring, advanced supportive therapies, and continuous assessment by our veterinary team. Our goal is to stabilize the patient while providing the highest level of medical support during critical situations.

ECG

We offer electrocardiogram (ECG) testing to evaluate the electrical activity and rhythm of your pet’s heart. This diagnostic tool helps identify arrhythmias and other cardiac abnormalities. ECG results assist our veterinarians in diagnosing cardiac conditions and determining appropriate treatment.

End of Life

We offer compassionate end-of-life care focused on keeping your pet as comfortable and peaceful as possible. Our veterinary team helps guide families through quality-of-life discussions and provides humane euthanasia when it is the most appropriate and compassionate option. We also assist families with aftercare arrangements through Gateway Pet Cemetery to help provide respectful memorial and cremation services.

In-House Testing

We offer in-house diagnostic testing using IDEXX laboratory analyzers to provide accurate and timely results. On-site testing allows us to quickly evaluate important health parameters such as blood chemistry, hematology, and urinalysis. Rapid diagnostics help our team make informed medical decisions and begin treatment promptly.

Oxygen Therapy

We offer oxygen therapy for patients experiencing respiratory distress or conditions affecting oxygenation. Supplemental oxygen can help stabilize pets with cardiac, pulmonary, or systemic illnesses. Patients receiving oxygen therapy are closely monitored to ensure proper respiratory support and comfort.

Outbound Testing

We offer advanced diagnostic testing through IDEXX Reference Laboratories when specialized analysis is required. These external laboratories provide comprehensive testing that may include advanced blood panels, pathology, and specialized diagnostics. This collaboration allows us to obtain detailed information to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Pharmacy

We offer a fully stocked in-hospital pharmacy to provide medications and therapeutic treatments for your pet. This allows prescriptions to be filled quickly so treatment can begin without delay. Our team also provides clear guidance on proper dosing, administration, and medication safety.

Radiology

We offer digital radiology services to evaluate your pet’s internal anatomy using diagnostic X-ray imaging. Radiographs allow our veterinarians to assess bones, thoracic structures, abdominal organs, and other internal systems. These images play an important role in diagnosing injuries, disease processes, and other medical conditions.

Surgical

We offer a wide range of surgical services, from routine procedures to more complex soft tissue surgeries. These may include procedures such as laceration repair, abdominal exploratory surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, cystotomy, splenectomy, and other advanced surgical treatments when medically necessary. All procedures are performed using sterile technique with continuous anesthetic monitoring and comprehensive pain management to support a safe and smooth recovery.

Telemetry

We offer telemetry monitoring for hospitalized patients requiring continuous cardiac observation. This technology allows real-time monitoring of heart rate and rhythm to detect arrhythmias or other cardiac abnormalities. Continuous monitoring enables our veterinary team to respond quickly to changes in a patient’s condition.
