A Vision The Animal Emergency Clinic was established in the spring of 1995. It was founded by a group of local veterinarians who had the hopes of providing their patients with all night, weekend and holiday care. It was established as an independent business managed and staffed with veterinarians of its own. Putting Down Roots Our first location was on Main Street in Hesperia where we remained for about 4 years. Then seeking to own our own facility we purchased and remodeled a small building on Bear Valley Road near 11th Avenue where we remained until early 2008. In order to meet our growing needs and plan for the future our current state of the art facility was designed from the ground up and we begin practice there in early 2008. Dr Steve Edwards, who joined the practice in 1995 and participated in design and construction of the facility, along with his wife Nan took over full ownership in the fall of 2008. A Partnership Approach “Referral Clinic” is a term often used to describe our veterinary practice as most of our patients are referred to us after hours by their family veterinarians. We strive to foster a pleasant and involved working relationship with our referring veterinarians. We make ourselves available for case consult, providing them with prompt, completed medical records of referred cases via fax and make personal visits a couple times a year to inquire how we might improve on our service. We are available at the onset of a medical need or for case transfer for overnight monitoring. Most often a patient will be transferred back to their family veterinarian for continued care the following morning. Excellence and Empathy Dr Edwards is joined by Dr Navdeep Sandhu, Dr Gene Cannarella and Dr Tya Henderson whom you can learn more about in our team page. They are dedicated to providing expert, state of the art and compassionate care. Our staff includes Registered Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants with years of quality experience. They have training and experience in dealing with challenging cases and enjoy providing comfort to our patients in need. We hope you find our facility and personal care comforting in your time of need.

COVID-19 Social Distancing Measures

Please leave your pet in the car and telephone us from your car to let us know when you have arrived. (760) 962-1122

Due to the nature of emergency medicine, we cannot quote accurate wait times for your pet to be seen, as pets are seen in order of urgency. Upon arrival at our clinic, please call and a triage technician will come outside to assess your pet as soon as possible.

At times, due to excessive patient volume, we may need to refer you to another veterinary ER as we can reach max capacity. If possible, please call prior to coming to our clinic to verify that we can accommodate your pet.

  • Please telephone us before leaving your home. Our receptionist will place you on a waiting list and call you back when it is time for you to drive to the hospital.
  • We wish to avoid clients congregating in our parking lot – KEEP YOUR DISTANCE FROM EACH OTHER.
  • We prefer you wait at home or in another (empty) parking place to wait your turn. DO NOT WAIT AT THE FRONT DOOR.
  • Please electronically fill out the Admit Form on our website, BEFORE bringing your pet in.

  • We kindly ask you to STAY OUT of our hospital. We will meet you at your car to bring your pet into the hospital.
  • We will communicate exam findings, financial estimates, patient progress, and test findings over the telephone. Please be sure to keep your cell phone charged and available for us to call you.
  • Serious emergencies will be assessed and managed as a priority.
